Received my contract

What's happening at Alcudia Smir?

I have seen the following on an agents website:

20% deposit payable upon private contract, less reservation fee

Suggest the contracts are not bound by law, but are a private arrangement between you and the developer.....

    Hmm. Interesting. Definately a cause to get the solicitor involved.

    I need to get my backside in gear and find a good one in case I decide to go ahead... I could use my usual solicitor but to be honest would prefer to use one with intimate knowledge of the Moroccan system..

    Not quite appointed one yet. Two options:

      Grace and Co
      Anthony Seddon


    Thought Anthony Seddon were going to work out but they seem to have gone quiet on me (shame considering I'm a potential customer!)

    I think others have had good experience with Grace and Co for Playa Vista.

    I'mm make my decision by the end of the week,

    I'm still a bit confused as to what this contract is...it's described as a "SALE AGREEMENT"....

    Anyone any comments?

    Bearing in mind what has been said on this site about plans being changed and not necessarily knowing where our apartments will be on the new plans, is anyone/everyone who has received contracts intending to sign and return them by the end of the month as requested? I am a bit concerned about the timescale, having only received our contract this week.
    Also, has anyone yet had their reservation cheque cashed?

    I believe that the reservation cheques wont be cashed until they receive your contract back signed along with the deposit! The time span for the end of the month is optimistic I think!! Especially knowing how long solicitors take. Im using CBA law, who now have a resident expert Moroccan chap working for them now!

    i contacted d lee he thinks its on hold till they sort out the plans so end of next month i think is more realalistic

    I think they're pushing it wanting the contracts back before the end of the month. Mine is still being reviewed by my Agent and as such I haven't received it yet.

    Also, I'm not signing anything until my solicitor has seen it...

    I've got three quotes for a solicitor (from the two ScottieDog recommended and one from John Howells in Covent Garden). They're all around th £800-900 mark. Anyone got a more competitive quote?

    Nope - that's about the quotes I'm getting (well quote actually). If you've got two quotes from the two names I passed on then you're doing better than me! After good early exchanges I can't get one of the solicitors to reply to phone calls and emails!

    i'm starting to think this is a ploy to slit buyer's so fadesa can keep all the power in how they do things. than having buyers group together & having a collective say in contracts & how things are done . rather than just their incompatance which is what i thought before
